The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university located in Denton, Texas. As with previous responses, please note that my knowledge is current up to September 2021, and some information may have changed since then.
1. History: UNT was founded in 1890 as Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute, a private teacher training institution. It became a state institution in 1901 and underwent several name changes over the years. In 1988, the institution adopted its current name, the University of North Texas.
